I am happy, are you?

Seems every time I come here to write a new post, I am surprised to see how much time has passed since my last post. I guess all those posts I wrote in my head didn't get written here.

So what's making me happy? After watching the Tony Awards this month, I was interested in Hamilton, the musical that took so many of the awards. Years ago, I remember, watching that same award show and hearing about Les Miserables in the same way, and not getting enough of that music. Back then I used my library card to borrow the complete soundtrack, numerous CD set, and playing it repeatedly and renewing it as many times as allowed. It is still my favorite musical. I was fortunate to be able to see two different touring companies of it, too. I remember smiling when sitting next to Tim in Chrysler Hall, the tickets were his birthday gift to me, and he says three songs into the show, "They sing everything?! Is there no dialogue?" Years later, again for my birthday, we watched the movie opening day, but he came out saying, "Now I understand the story!"

We have Amazon Prime membership and I found that the complete Hamilton soundtrack is available for download to Prime membership. (I think the music is the best perk of Prime membership.) As I write this, I am listening to the album for the third time in a little over a week. The music is very different for Broadway musicals, rap & hip hop, but the ballads remind me of those in Les Mis. I have to agree with the voters, this music is phenomenal!
And I have a new favorite! Can't wait till they start touring!

Perfect Love

I have been following a blog lately: This Life I Live, written by Rory who, along with his wife Joey, writes and sings country western music. I found his blog with a Facebook link. I recommend this blog to any of my friends who want to see Christ's love in action. This couple's faith shines through in the way they are facing her terminal cancer, the love they have for each other and their toddler with Down's Syndrome, and the music they share. Their home is in Tennessee, but they are staying with her parents in Indiana and today's post included a video of the recent snowfall along with Joey singing "It is Well with My Soul", one of my favorite hymns. You can see the video HERE or by going to the blog page link above. In February Rory and Joey will have an album her favorite hymns, including that one, available for sale. Oh, I have to add, the perfect love I am referring to in the title of this post is the one Jesus has for all of us.
